Police locked down an Edinburgh pub linked to a probe into the death of a woman at a nearby home after a man "covered in blood" walked into the boozer.
A source told the Record cops swooped on the Mid Yoken pub in the East Craigs area of the city after a blood-soaked man entered the premises on Monday night. It remains cordoned off by officers.
Police presence at two sites
The pub is less than one-mile away from a property where a woman died following a disturbance within a home. Emergency services were called to Craigievar Square at around 8.45pm. The 44-year-old was discovered with serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have confirmed searches of the two sites are linked. Detectives remain at the property. Photos taken outside the property on Tuesday show a police cordon has been erected.
Arrest made
A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing. Officers say there is no risk to the wider public and a police presence will remain in the area while enquiries continue.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "A woman has died following a disturbance at a property in Craigievar Square, Edinburgh. Emergency services were called to the incident around 8.45pm on Monday, July 20.
"A 44-year-old woman was found with serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin are aware. A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
"There is no risk to the wider public and a police presence will remain in the area while enquiries continue."
