Driver bailed after fatal Dukinfield crash kills cyclist

A driver arrested following a fatal crash in Dukinfield has been released on bail, police have confirmed.

Incident details

The crash happened on Yew Tree Lane just before 1pm on Monday afternoon (August 3). Greater Manchester Police said officers were called out to a collision involving a car and a bicycle.

The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

Police update

In an update issued today (August 5), a GMP spokesperson said he had since been bailed while enquiries into the incident continue. The road was closed off on Monday afternoon following the collision, with police enquiries taking place.

An air ambulance was seen in attendance as part of the emergency response. GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is continuing to appeal for information.
