A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of murder after mother-of-six Anita Rose was found unconscious following a morning dog walk in Brantham, Suffolk. The man, from Brantham, is being questioned at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre.
Ms Rose, 57, left her home at around 5am on July 24 to walk her springer spaniel, Bruce. A member of the public found her injured and unconscious on a track near Rectory Lane at approximately 6.25am. She suffered head and facial injuries and was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, where she died on Sunday.
This is the third arrest in the case. Two people from Ipswich were previously arrested: a 45-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder, later re-arrested for murder, and a 37-year-old woman on suspicion of handling stolen goods. Both have been released on police bail until October 25.
A Home Office post-mortem was conducted on Monday, but the cause of death has not been established pending further tests. Detective Superintendent Mike Brown thanked the public for their support and appealed for information about Ms Rose's missing pink zip-up jacket, believed to be from Regatta, which she was wearing before the incident.
Brown urged the public to refrain from speculation to allow the investigation and any potential court proceedings to proceed.
