Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that firefighters arrived quickly and used two hose reel jets, one hand-held jet and an aerial appliance to bring the fire under control. A video taken at the height of the blaze shows huge plumes of smoke and a raging fire.

Residents Advised to Keep Windows Shut

Nearby residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed if there is visible smoke in their area. Fire service bosses warned of the possibility of low-lying smoke passing north in the Cheetham Hill area.
