A dispersal order has been enforced at Mostyn Champneys Retail Park in Llandudno following persistent antisocial behaviour. The order took effect on Tuesday night, October 27, and remains in place until shortly after 9pm on Wednesday.
Police have warned that anyone failing to follow an instruction to vacate the area could face a substantial fine or even imprisonment. The order was authorised by District Inspector Catherine Walker.
Details of the dispersal order
A North Wales Police spokesperson said: "In response to persistent anti social behaviour on the Mostyn Champneys Retail Park last night (Tuesday), District Inspector Catherine Walker authorised a Dispersal Order for the area marked in the picture, which will run from 9.03pm on October 27 to 9.03pm tonight."
The spokesperson added: "A Dispersal Order gives police officers and designated PCSOs the power to direct individuals to leave a specific area to prevent anti-social behaviour, crime, or disorder."
Penalties for non-compliance
Failure to comply with a direction to leave the area and not return is a criminal offence. Offenders can face a fine of up to £2,500, and/or up to 3 months in prison.
Inspector Walker said: "We will not tolerate groups of youths congregating on the retail park, intimidating shoppers and behaving in an anti-social manner at retail premises."
She added: "I would encourage parents and carers to ensure they know where their young people are, and make sure they know about this dispersal order."
