A Manchester family has been left traumatised after witnessing a complete stranger brutally stab their beloved pet dog multiple times in a shocking broad daylight attack.
The horrific incident occurred as father Lee Hopley and his 12-year-old daughter were returning from a walk with their XL Bully, Rottie, near their home. What should have been a routine family outing turned into a nightmare when an unknown man approached and launched a vicious, unprovoked assault on their pet.
A Terrifying Ordeal
"We were just coming back from a walk and this man came out of nowhere," Mr Hopley recounted, still visibly shaken by the event. "He just started stabbing our dog repeatedly. My daughter was screaming, it was absolutely horrific to watch."
The family's beloved pet, Rottie, sustained multiple serious stab wounds in the brutal attack. The XL Bully required immediate emergency veterinary treatment for his injuries.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Greater Manchester Police have launched a full investigation into the disturbing incident. Authorities are treating the case as serious animal cruelty and are appealing to the public for information that could lead to identifying the perpetrator.
"This was a deeply distressing attack witnessed by a young child," a police spokesperson stated. "We're pursuing all lines of enquiry to locate the individual responsible for this cruel act."
Community Shock and Aftermath
The local community has expressed outrage and support for the traumatised family. Animal welfare organisations have emphasised the severity of such attacks and the lasting psychological impact on both the animals and their owners.
While Rottie receives ongoing veterinary care, the family faces not only mounting medical bills but also the emotional scars from witnessing such violence against their cherished family member.
The investigation continues as police work to bring the perpetrator to justice for this disturbing act of animal cruelty.
