Police clashed with protesters in Midlothian on Monday after a crowd gathered for a second day to oppose the alleged placement of a sex offender in the area.
Local residents in the Pavilion Court area of Penicuik claim the sex offender has been housed nearby and want him removed from the community.
The first protest occurred on Sunday, with residents expressing concerns for existing residents, reports Edinburgh Live. Police said they attended and engaged with the group, which later dispersed.
Second Day of Protest
However, footage from Monday afternoon shows around half a dozen officers struggling with a protester before restraining the person against a police van.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.50pm on Sunday, 26 July, 2026, we were made aware of a crowd gathered outside a property in the Pavilion Court area of Penicuik."
“Officers attended and engaged with the group, which later dispersed.”
The force has also been approached for comment following Monday's gathering.
