Three people have been taken to hospital, including an eight-year-old child, after a car struck pedestrians and crashed into a service station near Cardiff. The incident occurred at Cardiff Gate Services, just off junction 30 of the M4, at around 11:45am on Monday.
The injured include the child and a 39-year-old man, both pedestrians, as well as a 76-year-old woman who was driving the vehicle. Police said the man suffered serious, potentially life-changing injuries and remains in hospital. The driver and child were also taken to hospital; none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
Witnesses reported that a black BMW hit people sitting at a table before crashing into the main building, shattering the front window. One witness described how about 15 people helped lift the car off those trapped. Another witness said they had to pull their 13-year-old out of the way moments before the collision.
South Wales Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact police, quoting reference number 2600162925.
