Chessington evacuated after threat

Chessington World of Adventures was evacuated on Sunday morning, November 8, after reports of a threat prompted a major emergency response.

Police officers and sniffer dogs were seen patrolling the surrounding area as staff and visitors were cleared from the site. The theme park, located around 12 miles southwest of Central London, was forced to shut while the investigation continued.

Official closure notice issued

The park issued an official closure notice to visitors, apologising for the disruption. As reported by the Daily Star, the notice states: "Chessington World of Adventures Resort is currently closed. LEGOLAND Windsor or alternatively, you can contact our Customer Services team after 2pm today. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will provide a further update as soon as possible."

The exact reason for the closure remains unknown as the Metropolitan Police continue to investigate. The force has urged members of the public not to speculate about the situation and confirmed their investigation is ongoing.

Social media confirms evacuation

Chessington Buzz, a social media account dedicated to providing updates on the park, added: "We're aware there is a parkwide evacuation of Chessington currently and, as is often standard, the attendance of emergency services."

The incident follows an earlier closure this year, when the park shut in the summer due to a water outage that caused disruption to visitors.
