Firefighters are battling a large building fire in Cheetham Hill, Manchester, with smoke visible for miles. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to Broughton Street in the early hours of Saturday, with the blaze ongoing since at least 1am.
Smoke Warning for Residents
At approximately 5:30pm, the fire service urged residents to keep windows and doors closed due to thick, low-lying smoke drifting north. The warning remains in place as firefighters continue their efforts.
Road Closures in Place
Road closures have been implemented on Broughton Street and Bent Street. Motorists are advised to avoid the area. The fire service has not yet confirmed the cause of the fire or if anyone has been injured.
