Northumbria Police and the North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team remain on the scene in Wylam, where searches are continuing on the River Tyne for a missing man named Liam, whose surname has not been disclosed. The 22-year-old was last seen heading towards the village from Wylam Bridge on Saturday morning.
Liam is described as a white man, 6ft 3ins tall, of medium build, with dark hair. He has tattoos down his right arm and was last seen wearing black joggers, black Nike trainers, a black t-shirt with white text and a diamond logo on the back, and a gold chain.
Community urged to share footage
Councillor Gordon Stewart, for Prudhoe South, released a statement on behalf of Northumberland County Council, which is supporting the police and other partners in the search. He said: "I have offered additional resources from the council if the police feel it would assist."
He added: "Can I please remind all residents and businesses in the area to review any CCTV, door bell camera or dash cam footage, and anything relevant should be passed to the Police ASAP. The community is shocked by this incident and hope that Liam is found safe and well, our thoughts go out to his family at this terrible time."
Police appeal for information
Northumbria Police issued an appeal stating: "Extensive enquiries are ongoing to locate him, and officers and family are growing increasingly concerned for their welfare." They asked anyone with information to contact them via social media direct message, the live chat on their website, or by calling 101, quoting reference number NP-20260815-0424.
The search began on Sunday when a large number of emergency vehicles arrived at the scene, with searches taking place around and in the river itself. The community remains shocked as the operation continues.
