A cat that was taken by an Amazon delivery driver from outside her home in West Yorkshire has been returned to her family, the owners have confirmed. Nora, who requires medication for a heart murmur, was filmed being picked up by the driver after he attempted to deliver a parcel in Elland on Monday afternoon.
Carl Crowther, one of Nora’s owners, announced on Facebook on Wednesday evening: “We are delighted to announce that she was returned home safe and well. Obviously we are over the moon with this outcome.” The family had previously expressed distress over Nora’s absence due to her medical needs.
Mr Crowther said the family would not provide details about how Nora was returned, citing ongoing investigations. He thanked neighbours, strangers and local councillors who had helped in the search. West Yorkshire Police confirmed that an investigation into the abduction is still active.
Amazon stated that the driver was not directly employed by the company but by a subsidiary, and said it was investigating the incident in cooperation with police. Mr Crowther criticised Amazon’s response, claiming the company offered him money rather than meaningful assistance, which he described as “disgusting” and an attempt to “put a value on somebody’s pet”.
