Incident Details

The blaze was reported at around 4pm on Broad Street near Eccles Old Road. Firefighters from Salford fire station arrived quickly and found the car well alight. They used breathing apparatus, a hose reel, and a hearth kit to extinguish the flames. Greater Manchester Police assisted with a partial road closure to ensure safety.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly after 4pm this afternoon (Thursday 9 July), a fire engine from Salford fire station was called to reports of a car fire on Broad Street, Salford, near Eccles Old Road. Crews arrived quickly at the scene. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel and hearth kit to extinguish the fire, working with colleagues from Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe.”

Firefighters were in attendance for approximately 52 minutes before the flames were dampened. The cause of the blaze has not been confirmed. No injuries were reported.
