A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping after a woman was allegedly forced into a white van in Canary Wharf, east London. The incident occurred just before midnight on 30 September on Millharbour Road, at the junction with Lighterman's Road.
The victim, believed to be aged between 28 and 32, was reportedly forced into a Ford Transit van by two males. The arrested man was detained on 1 October but has since been bailed pending further enquiries. It remains unclear if he was one of the two individuals involved in the alleged kidnapping.
Detective Inspector Grant Stevens, leading the investigation, expressed concern for the woman's welfare, stating: “We are keen to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and are concerned for the welfare of the young woman involved, who we believe is aged between 28 and 32 and been unable to identify.”
The Metropolitan Police is appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. Detective Inspector Stevens urged: “Were you in or near Millharbour Road around the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious, or do you have any CCTV or mobile phone footage that will assist us with our enquiries? If so, please come forward by calling 101 and referencing 01/8032774/25.”
