A camper van has reportedly exploded near the Mornflake Stadium in Crewe, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky this afternoon. The incident occurred on Gresty Road, where Crewe Alexandra were playing Harrogate Town.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud bang before seeing flames and smoke. One witness said: 'A van has exploded in Crewe. My brother is at the same and can see the smoke.' Another added: 'There was a big bang and a camper van was on fire. I think it has been put out now.'
The smoke was visible above the stadium, darkening the sky over the town centre. Emergency services are believed to have attended the scene, and the fire is thought to have been extinguished. No injuries have been reported at this stage.
