Cameron Menzies has reassured fans that he is recovering after being taken ill during his World Matchplay clash with Ross Smith. The second-round contest was abandoned when Menzies stepped away from the oche and suddenly became unwell. He doubled over in discomfort on the Winter Gardens stage and later fainted after complaining that he was feeling dizzy.

Menzies was leading 2-1 at the time of the stoppage and was supported by the match officials, while Smith also came to his aid. He received medical attention after coming off the stage and the PDC confirmed that he had experienced high blood pressure. After being checked over, Menzies was deemed well enough to return to his accommodation.

Now, the 37-year-old has revealed that he is feeling much better while thanking fans who had reached out on social media. Writing on Facebook, he said: "Thanks to everyone who's checked in and sent messages. I'm okay."
