The victim of a fatal shooting in south London has been identified as Auguste-Marie Bile-aka Amoa, a 25-year-old bus driver. He was found with gunshot wounds on Willington Road in Clapham on Monday, August 10, at around 10pm and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Arrest and Investigation
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after reportedly presenting himself to hospital with a gunshot injury shortly after the incident. He remains in hospital under police guard.
Detective Chief Inspector Claire Guiver, leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with Bile-aka’s family as they come to terms with this tragic incident. We continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.”
Appeal for Witnesses
Police are urging anyone who was in the area at the time, witnessed anything suspicious, or has CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage to contact them on 101, quoting reference 8379/10AUG. Anonymous information can also be provided to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
One local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, described hearing two loud bangs and seeing a man running from the scene. They said: “I walked around them in the road I looked up Willington Road and there’s a man running away and he’s shouted something twice, but I don’t know what. He ran around the corner (towards Clapham North), and I saw the victim lying on the floor looking up, and then everyone realised what had happened.”
