The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have confirmed that Brydon Carse has been removed from the England squad for the upcoming second Test with Pakistan.
The news comes just 24 hours after footage of Carse, 31, in handcuffs was shared across social media on Sunday. Carse was on a night out in Derby following Durham's County Championship win over Derbyshire, with the ECB later confirming an investigation had been launched.
Investigation Referred to Cricket Regulator
Reports have indicated that Carse was not formally arrested and later returned to the team hotel after being briefly detained by officers.
However, the ECB released a statement on Monday outlining that the pace bowler will no longer participate in England's second Test match with Pakistan after Saturday night's incident was referred to the Cricket Regulator. He has been replaced in the squad by Sonny Baker.
"Following a referral from the ECB, the Cricket Regulator have confirmed that they will investigate events on Saturday night in Derby," an ECB statement read.
"Brydon Carse will no longer be available for selection for the second men's Test while this investigation is ongoing and the full facts are obtained."
Second Test at Lord's
The second Test begins on Thursday at Lord's. England won by an innings in the first Test over three days at Headingley.
Carse has 14 Test caps and 44 white-ball appearances for his country. He featured in all five Tests in the Ashes in Australia over the winter, where he finished as England's leading wicket taker.
He took two wickets for Durham as the Division Two leaders won away against Derbyshire on Saturday.
The incident follows Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson being stood down from England duty following a nightclub incident which occurred after the first Test win over New Zealand earlier this summer. The duo missed the second Test but would return for the third with Stokes announcing his international retirement soon after.
