A drive-by shooting in Brixton, south London, has left four people injured, one of them in a life-threatening condition. Police were called to Coldharbour Lane shortly after 1am on Saturday following reports of multiple shots fired from a vehicle.
A 25-year-old man remains in hospital in a critical condition. Three others, aged 21, 47, and 70, have injuries described as either life-changing or not life-threatening. All four were taken to hospital, with two transported to a major trauma centre and the other two to a local hospital.
Detectives believe the incident occurred at a suspected barbecue party outside the Southwyck House estate. Resident Robert, 40, said the area is often busy on summer nights and that he thought the shooting took place at the gathering. No arrests have been made, and police are working to identify those responsible.
Shopkeeper Moh John, from Payless Food & Wine supermarket, said people ran into his shop in fear after hearing gunshots. He locked the door and later provided CCTV footage to police. A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed a trauma team from London's Air Ambulance was dispatched.
Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo described the shooting as an 'act of indiscriminate violence' and urged witnesses to come forward.
