A well-known doctor has been charged with 148 counts of rape and sexual assault. Queensland Police launched an investigation into Stellios Theodoros, from Brisbane, after 15 alleged victims came forward with complaints. The charges against the 74-year-old include 94 counts of rape and 54 counts of sexual assault.
Investigation Details
Detectives from Upper Mount Gravatt Criminal Investigation Branch have been investigating Theodoros since August last year under Operation Xray Cariyna. Theodoros, known as Stan, worked as a GP at Wellers Hill Medical Centre in Tarragindi, Brisbane's inner-south, until his retirement in 2021. He was removed as a company director in 2025.
Alleged Victims
Queensland Police allege that Theodoros assaulted 15 women, ranging from their late teens to 40s, between the early 2000s and 2015. Detective Senior Sergeant Denis Silk commended the alleged victim-survivors for their courage in reporting the assaults. He stated, "(Alleged) crimes of this nature are a deplorable violation of trust, and investigators are committed to pursuing every avenue to seek justice."
Police believe there may be additional alleged victims. Silk encouraged anyone with information to come forward directly or anonymously to Crimestoppers, reassuring victim-survivors that support services are available.
Court Appearance
Theodoros is scheduled to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 23. Queensland Police confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing.
