Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid was left speechless as a television star recounted her second terrifying assault while walking in London.
A Second Shocking Assault
Bridgerton actress Genevieve Chenneour appeared on the ITV programme on Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, to discuss the frightening incident. The 27-year-old, who played Clara Livingston in the hit Netflix series, was just two minutes from an audition when a man targeted her near Oxford Circus.
She described the attack as part of a disturbing trend. "It's a way of making women feel powerless, out of control," Chenneour explained to presenters Susanna Reid and Ed Balls. She detailed how the assailant struck her as hard as possible while making it appear like an accidental bump, with his hands in his pockets. "I think it's a misogynistic attack," she stated emphatically.
Left Without Support or Justice
The actress revealed that the attacker kept walking after the assault. She turned around, screamed, and tried to get attention, but a woman nearby offered no help. Genevieve then collapsed on the pavement to catch her breath, calling a friend who works in close protection because she was so shocked.
This was the second attack on Chenneour within a year. In February, she was the victim of an attempted mugging in a Kensington café, where she was threatened with being stabbed and left with a concussion. While one culprit from that incident is in prison, she has received no information about the other, who made the stabbing threat.
"He may have been arrested, but he wasn't charged and they refused to give me his name," she told the GMB hosts. "So I don't feel like I can protect myself properly because of that."
A Call for Safety and Accountability
Susanna Reid responded with visible dismay, calling the accounts "so horrible." She asserted that Chenneour should not have to feel vulnerable and that the criminals should be the ones fearing consequences. "They should feel like if they do this, they're instantly going to be arrested, charged, prosecuted," Reid said.
Genevieve explained she had been cautiously rebuilding her confidence, taking every precaution by covering up and not displaying valuables. Susanna swiftly interjected, "You shouldn't have to explain yourself. You should be free to do what women should be allowed to do, which is walking freely around where they live without fear of being assaulted, robbed, attacked."
The first attack had already left the actress with severe agoraphobia, and this second incident has triggered panic attacks. Her emotional appearance highlighted the ongoing issue of street violence and the profound impact on victims' sense of security in the capital.
