A 17-year-old boy riding an electric bike was taken to hospital after a collision with a suspected drug driver in Chorlton, Manchester. The crash occurred on Barlow Moor Road on Saturday evening, involving a green BMW X2 and a Surron e-bike.
Police and paramedics attended the scene, with an air ambulance landing nearby. The teenager was taken to Salford Royal Infirmary with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers found him in possession of a machete and a locking knife, which were seized.
The boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and will be questioned once medically fit. The BMW driver was breathalysed and drug-swabbed at the scene, believed to be under the influence of cannabis, and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
Barlow Moor Road was closed near Southern Cemetery from around 8pm but reopened overnight. The BMW sustained significant damage to the driver's side with airbags deployed, while the e-bike and clothing were seen on the ground. Enquiries are ongoing.
