A nine-year-old boy remains in a critical condition in hospital following a serious collision in Birmingham on Tuesday evening.
West Midlands Police were called to Masshouse Lane at the junction of Shannon Road in Kings Norton at around 5.55pm after reports of a two-car crash. The boy was found with severe injuries and taken to hospital.
Arrests at the scene
A man and a woman were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. They were also taken to hospital for medical checks, a police spokesperson confirmed.
The force has appealed for witnesses and dash-cam footage. Masshouse Lane remains closed at the junction with Shannon Road.

In a statement, West Midlands Police said: "We're appealing for information following a serious collision in #Birmingham earlier this evening. We were called to Masshouse Lane at the junction of Shannon Road in Kings Norton at around 5.55pm to reports of a two-car collision."
