A seven-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after being struck by a car while riding his scooter on a road in Staffordshire. The incident occurred on Commercial Road in Hanley at around 4pm on Wednesday, April 22.
Emergency Response
Emergency services rushed to the scene following reports that the child had been hit by a silver Volkswagen Polo. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. The boy was subsequently taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Police Appeal
Staffordshire Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to the collision. A spokesperson stated: "We are appealing for information following a serious collision in Stoke-on-Trent involving a child. We were called at around 4pm on Wednesday (22 April) to Commercial Road, Hanley, following reports of a collision involving a silver Volkswagen Polo and a seven-year-old boy, who was riding a scooter."
Officers have spoken to individuals at the scene and conducted initial enquiries. They are now urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage to come forward.
Road Closure
The road was closed while emergency services responded and officers carried out investigations. It reopened later that evening at approximately 8.45pm.
