Tragedy at Children's Birthday Party
A five-year-old boy has tragically lost his life after a wall collapsed during a children's birthday party at a popular crazy golf course in southeast London. The incident occurred at Sidcup Family Golf on Sunday evening, casting a shadow over what should have been a joyful celebration.
Emergency Response and Hospital Battle
Emergency services raced to the scene on Sidcup Bypass at approximately 5.40pm on Sunday, 9th November, after receiving reports of the collapse. Paramedics treated the young boy at the scene before he was airlifted to hospital by the London Air Ambulance.
Despite medical efforts, the child was originally described as being in a life-threatening condition and sadly passed away on Tuesday. The Mail confirmed the devastating news of his death.
A six-year-old girl was also injured in the same incident but has since been discharged from hospital, having received treatment for her injuries.
Ongoing Investigation and Community Response
Witnesses confirmed that the boy had been attending a children's birthday party when the tragedy unfolded. It is believed he sustained a head injury during the wall collapse, though authorities have not yet specified which wall on the premises gave way.
Metropolitan Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collapse. A police spokesperson confirmed they were called at 17:44hrs on Sunday to reports of a child injured by a collapsing wall.
On Wednesday, Sidcup Family Golf released an official statement expressing their profound sadness: 'We are deeply saddened to hear that the child injured on Sunday has tragically passed away. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the child's family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.'
The establishment, which offers driving range facilities, golf lessons and crazy golf, has remained closed since the incident. Social media posts described the site as 'all locked up' with a visible police presence in the aftermath.
The company added on their website: 'Sidcup Family Golf is closed today following an incident on site. Our thoughts are with those affected. We appreciate your understanding at this time and will share further updates when appropriate.'
London Ambulance Service deployed significant resources to the emergency, sending ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer to the scene alongside the air ambulance trauma team.
The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the cause of the wall collapse that ended a young life during what should have been a carefree childhood celebration.
