Boy, 3, critical after falling from Rochdale first-floor window

A three-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after falling from a first-floor window in Rochdale. Emergency crews were called to Spotland Tops, in the Cutgate area of the town, shortly after 4:15pm on Saturday, August 22.

Emergency response

Police and paramedics attended the incident on the residential estate, and an air ambulance was seen landing in the vicinity. The Manchester Evening News understands the boy tumbled from a first-floor window of a property.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed the child was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Police statement

A force spokesperson said: "We were called today (22 August 2026) at around 4.16pm to reports for the concern of the welfare of a child on Spotland Tops, Rochdale."

"Emergency services attended and the child was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a critical condition. Enquiries into the full circumstances around this incident are ongoing."
