Emergency services, including Staffordshire Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service and an air ambulance, were called to the park at around 6.30pm. Despite efforts, Brodan was declared dead approximately an hour later.

Brodan was a Year 10 pupil at Sir Graham Balfour School and had previously attended Tillington Manor Primary School. In a tribute, Tillington Manor described him as 'a truly special young man; kind-hearted, respectful and full of warmth'.
