A 13-year-old boy is among six people arrested after a group reportedly damaged a home and threatened people inside while armed with baseball bats and metal poles in Seaforth, Merseyside.
Police received a report at around 9pm on Saturday that the group were seen with weapons near Princess Way. It was later reported the group caused damage to a home and threatened the occupants. The group were allegedly later involved in an altercation with another man, who was said to have been in possession of a bladed weapon. No injuries were reported to Merseyside Police.
Police presence and arrests
Photos and video of the scene shared with the ECHO show at least six marked police vehicles in attendance and an individual being arrested on Ewart Road. Officers arrived at the scene and arrested a 52-year-old man from Seaforth on suspicion of affray and possession of a knife/blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.
Four other men, two aged 25 and two aged 23, all from Seaforth, were also arrested on suspicion of affray and criminal damage. A 13-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of affray. All six people have been conditionally bailed pending further enquiries.
Police response and appeal
Sefton Area Commander Karl Baldwin said: “We will never tolerate violence on our streets and the fast response from officers on the night ensured nobody was harmed and six people were arrested.
“I’m sure the people who live in the area may be concerned by this incident. I hope they are reassured that we are taking this matter extremely seriously.
“An investigation is ongoing into the incident to establish the full circumstances of what happened. If you have any information, please let us know as it could help our enquiries.”
