Emergency services remain at the scene of a “serious” house fire in Bootle, Merseyside, after a casualty was taken to hospital with burns. An urgent search of the property is continuing, with forensics teams seen in the street.
Fire crews were called to the blaze at a semi-detached house on Stone Square at around 3.40am today. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters arrived within seven minutes to find the property “well alight”.
Eight firefighters tackle blaze
Eight firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire and searched for occupants inside the house. Six fire engines were at the scene at the height of the blaze.
The main fire has now been extinguished, but two fire engines remain. Merseyside Police are also at the scene.
Forensic teams on Stone Square
A reporter for the Liverpool Echo said two fire engines, one fire investigation van and two police forensic vans are currently on Stone Square. Three police cars and a police van are also parked on nearby Marsh Avenue.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to the “serious house fire” at 3.38am today. Firefighters arrived at 3.45am to find the semi-detached house “well alight”. Six fire engines were at the scene at the height of the fire.
Investigation under way
Eight firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property to search for occupants and tackle the blaze using hose reel jets. The main fire has been extinguished and crews are now damping down the area.
Merseyside Police is also at the scene and an investigation is under way.
