An 'extremely brazen' burglar was caught in the act by quick-thinking officers in Bolton. Police raced to the scene on Furness Avenue after reports of a break-in yesterday morning (Saturday).
The swift response paid off when the suspect was detained inside the home. A picture released on Facebook shows the 38-year-old man in handcuffs inside a bedroom.
He was arrested on suspicion of burglary, criminal damage and theft and remains in custody for questioning.
Police statement on the incident
Bolton Neighbourhood Chief Inspector Mike Jennings-Wharton said: "This was an extremely brazen burglary during the middle of the day which left the victim feeling shaken in their own home. Your home is your sanctuary where you should feel safe."
He added: "We are committed to tackling burglaries and in Bolton specifically burglary has decreased by 36% in the last year thanks to officers’ proactive work to tackle this type of criminality."
