Disturbing bodycam video released by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office captures the frantic moments after a Florida woman was mauled by a 12-foot alligator while swimming with her boyfriend. The attack occurred Sunday along the Econlockhatchee River, leaving 31-year-old Brittany Clark with catastrophic injuries.
The footage shows a deputy racing through thick vegetation to reach the sandy shoreline, where Clark and her boyfriend, Chance Allison, were huddled beneath a tarp. The officer urgently retrieves a tourniquet as the video ends. According to a 911 call, Clark's arms were dislocated, and one was completely severed, described by a friend as "hanging by a thread." When the dispatcher asked about the other arm, the friend replied, "Gone."
Desperate Plea for Help
Allison told the operator the attack was "bad, real bad" and begged responders to "please hurry." He explained that the alligator eventually released Clark but left her with "horrible" injuries. He and another companion dragged her from the water, stating, "We're far off the trail, we're off of a little launch area by the river... We need help now!"
Clark was wading in about three feet of water when the alligator launched a fatal attack, employing a "death roll" maneuver. Despite Allison's desperate attempts, Clark succumbed to her injuries. In a heartfelt Facebook tribute, Allison wrote, "I'm just still in disbelief of what took place. We had so many things planned out and memories to be made."
Medical Examiner's Findings
The medical examiner's report confirmed that Clark died en route to the hospital after suffering "multiple blunt force injuries to the upper extremities." Upon first responders' arrival, Clark exhibited a faint, "thready" pulse. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission captured and euthanized two alligators measuring 13 feet and 12.5 feet in length during the investigation.
Beyond her love for outdoor activities and operating bulldozers, Clark was drawn to rave culture and cherished her cats, Shady and Hokulani. The Seminole County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the incident.
