A man's body has been found washed up on the shore of a lake in Merseyside. The discovery, which is being treated as an unexplained death, was made at Marine Lake in West Kirby at around 3.50pm on Tuesday September 15.
Discovery on the lake's outer edge
Officers attended and found the body on the rocks of the outer edge of the lake, which has an average depth of 5ft. It is unclear how long the body had been there.
Officers are working to identify the man and notify his next of kin. A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that emergency services were called to a report that a body was found at West Kirby Marine Lake yesterday afternoon, Tuesday September 15."

The spokesman added: "At around 3.50pm we received a report that a man was found deceased on the rocks along the outer edge of the lake and his death is being treated as unexplained."
"Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and notify his next of kin."
