A body has been found in the search for a missing teenager who vanished near a canal in Wiltshire.
Georgie Nolan, 19, was last seen walking alongside the Kennet and Avon Canal by The Barge Inn early on Saturday morning. Police searches had been using a camera to scan the water in the hunt for the teenager from Bradford on Avon.
Body discovered during search
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a body was found this afternoon (27 October) in the Bradford on Avon area during the search for missing teenager Georgie.
“While formal identification has not yet taken place, Georgie’s family have been informed of this development and are being supported by specially trained officers. They have asked that their privacy is respected at this extremely difficult time.
“Our thoughts are with Georgie’s family and friends.
“Although enquiries remain ongoing, at this early stage we do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. Formal identification will take place in due course.”
Appeal for information
One friend posted that Georgie vanished without shoes and a coat, saying: “Georgie may seem confused. If anybody has seen her or does see her, please contact the police immediately. We are very concerned about her wellbeing.”
Formal identification is expected to take place in due course as enquiries continue.
