A body has been discovered during the search for a missing swimmer at Loch Long near Muirhead, Glasgow. The alarm was raised around 8pm on Sunday evening when a swimmer was reported missing, prompting a major emergency response.
Multi-Agency Search Operation
Emergency services, including Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, rushed to the scene. A Coastguard helicopter was also drafted in to assist with the search efforts. Officers and personnel launched a desperate hunt to locate the missing man.
Sadly, a man's body was found in the water approximately one hour after the search was launched, at around 9pm. The individual was then recovered from the loch.
Police Statement and Next Steps
Police have stated that they do not believe the death to be suspicious. A Police Scotland spokesperson told The Courier: 'Around 9pm on Sunday the body of a man was recovered from the water in Long Loch near Muirhead, following a multi-agency search for a missing swimmer. The death is not being treated as suspicious.'
The tragedy will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal, who will review the circumstances. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course, as per standard procedure for such incidents.
