Police searching for a missing Leicestershire man have confirmed the discovery of a body near a reservoir.
Search for Missing Man Concludes
Mark Parry, a 45-year-old from Earl Shilton, near Hinckley, was last seen at his home on Westfield Avenue on the afternoon of Wednesday, 3 December. He was last in contact with a relative the following morning, Thursday, 4 December, prompting concern and a public appeal by Leicestershire Police.
Discovery at Thornton Reservoir
The search came to a tragic conclusion on Saturday, 7 December. Officers confirmed that a body was found earlier that day at Thornton Reservoir, which is located approximately eight miles from Mr Parry's home address.
While formal identification procedures are still pending, authorities have stated they believe the body to be that of the missing man. In an official statement, the force said: "A body has been found in the search for missing Earl Shilton man Mark Parry."
Police Statement and Family Support
The police have confirmed that Mr Parry's death is not being treated as suspicious. A file is now being prepared for HM Coroner to establish the full circumstances.
The family of Mark Parry are being supported by specialist officers and have requested privacy as they come to terms with their loss during this profoundly difficult time. The community in Earl Shilton and the wider Hinckley area is likely to be deeply affected by this sad news.
This remains a developing story, and further updates will follow once formal identification has been completed.
