A body has been discovered in Brazil, near the location where a 14-year-old boy from Nottingham went missing while swimming in the sea. Elliot Deslandes, from Arnold, was on holiday with family friends on Ilha Grande, an island close to Rio de Janeiro, when he disappeared on 2 November.
His family flew out to the area to assist in the search, which was subsequently extended. The Foreign Office has confirmed that a body was found and that Brazilian authorities are conducting further inquiries.
A Foreign Office spokesman stated: 'We are aware of the reports of a body being found.' It had been reported that the group was struck by a powerful wave and Elliot did not make it back to shore.
