Body Found in Glasgow in Search for Missing Man John Hunter

A body has been discovered in Glasgow's east end as police continue their search for missing man John Hunter. The 51-year-old, from the Craigend area, was last seen in Cranhill on July 3, prompting a missing person appeal.

Discovery on Springboig Avenue

The body was found on Springboig Avenue on Monday, July 13. Detectives and forensic officers were seen at the scene the following day. The area was cordoned off, and access to Barlanark Park and its football pitch was blocked.

Family Informed

While formal identification has not yet been carried out, Police Scotland have informed John Hunter's family. A police spokesperson said: "On Monday, July 13, 2026, the body of a man was found in Springboig Avenue, Glasgow. Formal identification is still to take place, however, the family of John Hunter, who was last seen in the Cranhill area on Friday, 3 July, 2026, has been informed."

Unexplained Death

The death is being treated as unexplained, and enquiries remain ongoing. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course, according to the police spokesperson.
