Police have named the motorcyclist who died in a crash on the Isle of Lewis as Roland Crichton, from the Isle of Mull.
Emergency services were called to the A857 Ness to Stornoway road near New Park, Newmarket, at 4.40pm on Saturday, August 22, following a collision involving a silver MG and a black BMW S1000 RS motorcycle.
The 56-year-old rider was taken to Western Isles Hospital, where he later died. His family has been made aware.
Arrest made
The 44-year-old male driver of the MG has been arrested in connection with the incident. No other injuries were reported.
Police Sergeant Scott MacDonald said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Crichton’s family at this incredibly sad time. Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. Anyone who has not already spoken to police and has information they believe may assist is as to contact us.”
Appeal for witnesses
Sergeant MacDonald added: “I would also ask anyone who was in the area and may have dash cam footage that could assist to get in touch.”
