A woman wielding a knife who appeared to lunge at strangers on a busy street in Bangkok was stopped only when bystanders trapped her inside a taxi, according to reports. The incident occurred on Friday in the Nana area of the Thai capital.
Footage posted on Instagram by a witness shows the woman walking along Sukhumvit Soi 3 with a knife visible in her right hand. The witness, user @niccorocks, said he heard screaming and saw 'a woman with a knife trying to attack people.'
In the video, the woman appears to lunge at a man trying to stop her, who kicks in her direction, causing her to walk away. Other passers-by dodge her until she charges at another woman at random. The ordeal ended when she jumped into a taxi, and bystanders mobilised to prevent the vehicle from leaving, alerting the driver.
Once trapped inside the cab, the woman became more aggressive and refused to surrender the weapon, according to a witness. A local police officer entered the taxi from the opposite side and apprehended her. A Grab driver reportedly jumped into the taxi and, with help from others, took the knife from her.
