A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was stabbed at a crematorium in Blackpool. Police were called to Carleton Crematorium at about 6.45pm on Tuesday following reports of an attack.
The victim, a woman in her 30s, sustained multiple stab wounds and was taken to hospital. She has since been discharged. The suspect, a man also in his 30s, was arrested shortly after the incident in nearby Low Moor Road and remains in police custody.
Detective Inspector Chris Hammond of Blackpool police said the victim and suspect were known to each other. He added: 'This assault left the victim with a number of injuries and it is only a matter of good fortune that she wasn’t more seriously hurt or even killed.'
