Emergency services were called to Seaforth Avenue in Atherton after a suspected thief climbed onto the roof of a house during an arrest attempt by police officers.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police conducted the arrest attempt at around 7.30am on Monday, September 28, in relation to alleged theft offences. When police arrived at the scene, the man scaled the roof of the property.
Firefighters and cordon at the scene
Firefighters attended the incident and a cordon was put in place across the street as crews responded to the situation.
The man, aged in his 30s, came down from the roof a short time later and was detained by police officers. He has been taken into custody following the incident.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At around 7.30am today, officers conducted an arrest attempt in relation to alleged theft offences at a property on Seaforth Avenue, Atherton.
"The suspect briefly accessed the roof to the property, but came down a short time later and was detained. A man in his 30s remains in custody."
