A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following an assault in Oldham. Police were called to Doncaster Street at around 8:45pm on Wednesday, August 26.

Armed officers were seen on Lord Street, and a large police presence remains in the area. No arrests have been made so far.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Officers responded to reports of a serious assault that had taken place on Doncaster Street, Oldham at 8:45pm tonight. No arrests have been made at this stage. A large police presence will remain in place as enquiries continue. A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries."
