Armed police officers were deployed to an estate in Blurton, Staffordshire, following reports that a man had pointed a gun at a woman known to him. The incident occurred this morning, prompting a swift response from Staffordshire Police's armed response unit.

According to witnesses, firearms officers were seen near Longton Park and on Lightwood Road. Police confirmed they stopped a grey Vauxhall van on Lightwood Road, where an air rifle was seized. A 48-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

A police spokeswoman stated: 'He remains in custody for questioning. We are appealing for anyone with any information that might help our investigation to contact us.' The suspect is believed to have left the scene in the van after the alleged incident.
