Armed Police Respond To Weapon Incident At Edinburgh Tesco

Armed police descended on a Tesco Extra store in Edinburgh's Corstorphine area on Friday evening following reports of a person with a weapon. Shoppers watched as officers, including members of an armed response unit, arrived at the scene on Meadow Place Road.

Police Scotland received a report of concern for a woman with an alleged weapon at around 4.10pm. A 20-year-old woman was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. She has since been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.

A police spokesperson confirmed that armed response officers attended as a precaution. The incident caused a significant police presence, with multiple vehicles parked outside the superstore and officers working at the crime scene.
