Armed police respond to Pontypridd disturbance, man arrested

Armed police were called to an address in Pontypridd on Wednesday afternoon following reports of a disturbance. Emergency services, including police and paramedics, were seen outside a property in the Pwllgwaun area throughout the afternoon.

Arrest made on suspicion of section 18 GBH

Officers, including armed units, were dispatched to Pwllgwaun Road at 2.30pm. A 45-year-old man from Pontypridd was arrested on suspicion of section 18 GBH with intent. He remains in police custody.

Police statement on the incident

In a statement released on Thursday, South Wales Police said: "South Wales Police was called at 2.30pm on Wednesday, August 27, following reports of a disturbance at an address on Merlin Close in Pontypridd."

The statement added: "A 45-year-old man from Pontypridd was arrested on suspicion of section 18 GBH with intent and remains in police custody. Investigations into the incident are ongoing."
