Angry Ginge confronts 'racist' fan at England World Cup game

Angry Ginge, the YouTube content creator whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, confronted a fan for alleged racist remarks during England's 0-0 draw with Ghana at Boston Stadium on Tuesday. He later criticized the standard of stewarding at the World Cup, claiming the supporter was not ejected from the venue.

Incident during England vs. Ghana

The match was part of Group L, following England's 4-2 victory over Croatia in Dallas. Burtwistle, a Manchester United supporter, uploaded a video after the game detailing the encounter. In the video, he pointed to an empty seat in front of him and said: “We have a situation where the gentleman that is sat there is being racist. I’ve reported it to the steward because, kick it out is the saying, I will stand by that. So he's going now to get his supervisor, and we'll see what happens. There's no way he should ever set foot in a stadium or watch a football game ever again.”

A message on the video stated: “The man sat in front was making incredibly racist comments toward the Ghanaian national team. Due to this it was only right for me to stand up and deal with this.”

Steward's response and aftermath

Burtwistle claimed a steward told him no action could be taken unless the fan repeated the comment. He said: “Apparently, the steward said he can't kick him out unless he does it again. I said there's no way on earth. All of us have heard it. He's got to go. So we're getting a team to kick him out now or something.”

Although the fan apologized, saying “I'm sorry about my comment about Ghana, it won't happen again. Can we just forget about it?” Burtwistle replied: “Forget about you being racist!? No, mate.”

Fan moved but not expelled

According to Burtwistle, the fan was eventually removed from his seat but was relocated to another part of the stadium to watch the remainder of the game. He said: “It's absolutely not good enough from the American stewards, the message before the game the message is kick it out - if you see it, say it. I've gone and reported it, he's not been kicked out of the stadium. We saw him as we left, he's been allowed to watch the whole game after the things he was saying about the Ghana team. I think it's an absolute f***ing disgrace he's been allowed to stay in after I had the evidence and five witnesses heard him say it.”

Burtwistle added: “It's an absolute f***ing disgrace, it's wrong on every single level that he can stay and get away with it. I did my part, I couldn't have done any more.”
