
The picturesque Portuguese resort town of Cascais has been rocked by a brutal murder after a 62-year-old American man was found dead with multiple stab wounds near the popular marina area.
Portuguese police were called to the scene in the early hours of Tuesday morning following reports of a violent incident in the affluent coastal community, located just 30 kilometres west of Lisbon.
Discovery of the Body
Authorities discovered the victim's body near the Cascais waterfront, a location typically bustling with tourists and locals enjoying the scenic harbour views. The area has since been cordoned off as forensic teams conduct their investigation.
The American national, whose identity hasn't yet been formally released, was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining what investigators described as multiple sharp force injuries.
Police Investigation Underway
Judicial Police have taken charge of the case, treating the death as a homicide. Officers are currently pursuing several lines of inquiry while forensic experts examine the crime scene for evidence.
"We can confirm the death of a 62-year-old American citizen in Cascais," a police spokesperson stated. "The circumstances are being investigated as suspicious and we're following all necessary procedures."
