A man was taken to hospital after two cars burst into flames following a crash on the A9 near Moy on Saturday, September 26. The road has since fully reopened.
Two vehicles catch fire after collision
Emergency crews were called to the scene at around 2.04pm after reports of a collision involving two vehicles. Both cars caught fire following the crash, and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that three appliances were sent to the scene.
The incident occurred near a section of the A9 currently being upgraded as part of the Dualling Programme. Dramatic footage showed huge flames and thick black smoke rising into the air at Moy.
Man taken to hospital
A man was taken to hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries is not known. The road was cleared shortly after 8pm on Saturday, and the force confirmed at 9.13am on Sunday that the road has now fully reopened.
The blaze was extinguished, and Traffic Scotland confirmed that recovery of the vehicles was complete.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The A9 near Moy has since reopened following a crash which was reported around 2pm on Saturday, 26 September, 2026. Two vehicles caught fire which was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and a man was taken to hospital for treatment.
"Enquiries are ongoing. Members of the public are thanked for their patience."
