The A9 has been closed in both directions after two cars burst into flames following a collision near the village of Moy in the Scottish Highlands.
Footage from the scene showed roaring fire and thick black smoke rising high into the air above the crash site. Emergency services were called at around 2.04pm after reports of a crash involving two vehicles.
The incident happened near a section of the A9 currently being upgraded as part of works to turn it from a single to a dual carriageway.
Fire and rescue response
Both cars caught fire following the crash, with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirming three appliances remain at the scene. The blaze has since been extinguished, but emergency crews are still in attendance and recovery of the vehicles is being arranged.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said the A9 between Moy and Tomatin remains closed in both directions while emergency services deal with the incident. A diversion route is in place, but members of the public have been urged to avoid the area at this time.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We are still in attendance following reports of two cars on fire on the A9 at Moy. We received a call at 14.04 and three appliances are there at the moment.”
