A police investigation is under way after two women died following reports of divers getting into difficulty at Loch Fyne in Argyll and Bute.
The alarm was raised at approximately 3.30pm on Sunday, triggering a rescue operation involving Coastguard and lifeboat crews.
Victims identified
A 26-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene near Tarbert. The body of a 24-year-old woman was later recovered from the water.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services attended and a 26-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”
The spokesperson added: “Further searches were carried out in the water and the body of a 24-year-old woman was recovered.”
Deaths treated as unexplained
The deaths are being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. Police have said they received a “report of concern for two female divers”.
